Before being sworn in as mayor, Rahm Emanuel pledged to craft a new cultural plan for Chicago in the first year of his administration. Now that the planning process is underway, Arts Alliance Illinois is teaming up with the League of Chicago Theatres and the Chicago Cultural Alliance as well as dozens of service groups, unions, major cultural institutions, and universities to leverage this opportunity to build a base of advocates who can turn the good ideas in the cultural plan into policy wins for the arts and arts education. To educate candidates in the 2011 election in Chicago about the value of the arts and arts education, Arts Alliance Illinois joined forces with the League of Chicago Theatres as well as the African American Arts Alliance, the Arts & Business Council of Chicago, the Chicago Artists' Coalition, the Chicago Music Commission, the Chicago Public Art Group, the Chicago Cultural Alliance, Lawyers for the Creative Arts, Urban Gateways, and many more. $2 Per Person Per Year

Arts Alliance Illinois advocates that the State invest $2 per person per year in the Illinois Arts Council, our state arts agency. This investment, about a $24 million appropriation, would help ensure everyone, everywhere in Illinois, could experience and participate in the arts. Learn more.
