Culture Counts

Be Counted for Culture in Chicago

Arts Alliance Illinois launched the Culture Counts campaign with the League of Chicago Theatres and the Chicago Cultural Alliance to promote participation in Chicago's cultural planning process and to make sure the plan included meaningful wins for the arts and arts education.

The City of Chicago released the Chicago Cultural Plan 2012 in October 2012. Here's what we accomplished:

  • More than 5,700 people signed the Culture Counts petition
  • The final Chicago Cultural Plan 2012 included all 21 of the Culture Counts recommendations
  • The City of Chicago committed $1 million to help implement the Cultural Plan and the Chicago Public Schools Arts Education Plan
