2007 Arts Advocate Awards 25th Anniversary Celebration 2005 Illinois Arts Legend Awards 2004 Illinois Arts Legend Awards Past Awardees |
The Board of Directors of IAAF established the Illinois Arts Legend Awards in 1999 to honor two individuals - an Advocate and an Artist - each year. The Illinois Arts Legend Awards committee may occasionally choose to honor an organization, corporation or outstanding artistic collaboration in either or both of these categories. The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation generously sponsored the design and creation of the award itself, which was designed by Douglas Garofalo of Garofalo Architects. Fabricated by H3, the award is made of jade glass with inlaid lettering, illuminated from below through blue stained glass on a stainless steel base. The significance of the shape and topology of the glass pays tribute to Arts Legend honorees, who have made far-reaching and significant contributions to the landscape of the arts in Illinois.
