Creation of the 2012 Chicago Cultural Plan is underway
For the first time in more than 25 years, the City of Chicago is updating its cultural plan, which will deliver recommendations on how to support artists and the arts throughout the city as well as enhance economic growth and the city's reputation as a global cultural destination.

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events is calling on Chicagoans to help shape the plan. In addition to meetings happening in neighborhoods across the city this spring, there are town hall meetings coming up in February where residents can speak out:
| Wednesday | February 15 | 6 to 8 pm | Columbia College Chicago |
| Thursday | February 16 | 6 to 8 pm | Nicholas Senn High School |
| Saturday | February 18 | 10 am to noon | DuSable Museum |
| Tuesday | February 21 | 6 to 8 pm | National Museum of Mexican Art |

The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events will unveil the final plan in the fall. The last time the city developed a cultural plan was 1986 under Mayor Harold Washington.
