Is your city arts friendly?

Tell us about it! Nominate your community (or someone else's) for the second annual

Illinois Arts Friendly Community Awards

for innovation and leadership in using the arts to build healthy communities

presented by the Illinois Arts Alliance Foundation
in collaboration with the Illinois Municipal League

Sponsored by Motorola, Inc.

The purpose of this award is to highlight and promote municipal support of the arts in Illinois communities and to honor municipal leaders who have encouraged innovative approaches to using the arts to build healthy communities. The award showcases programs and projects that may be viewed as models or best practices for other communities. The curators are particularly interested in volunteer-driven arts projects and collaborations with community organizations to meet specific community needs. Last year's Presidents' Choice honorees were Schaumburg and Fairfield.

Communities will be recognized at the Illinois Municipal League annual meeting on Saturday September 18, 2004. Two Presidents' Choice Awards will be presented to communities with the highest ranking based on the assessment criteria - one to a community with a population of under 50,000 and a second award to a community with a population greater than 50,000. Two representatives from each Presidents' Choice Award community will also be invited to attend as guests and be recognized at the Illinois Arts Alliance Foundation's annual Arts Legend Awards dinner in Spring 2005.
