Alene Valkanas State Arts Action Network Award Announced
The State Arts Action Network of Americans for the Arts has created a new award to be given at its annual convention: the Alene Valkanas State Arts Action Network Award. Beginning in 2007, this award will be given annually to an individual who has raised the bar for advocacy work at the local level. The State Arts Action Network is the result of a merger that happened two years ago between the State Arts Advocacy League of America (SAALA) and the National Community Arts Network (NCAN). Alene was Chair of SAALA during the transition year of the merger. Americans for the Arts’ 2007 Annual Convention will be held June, 2-4, 2007, in Las Vegas, at which time the Alene Valkanas State Arts Action Network Award will be presented.
