2005 Report Adventures in Arts Administration! provided an opportunity to visit and learn from arts organizations in action. Each session included tours of one or two local cultural organizations, culminating in an in-depth panel discussion. Support for off-site sessions graciously provided by Caterpillar Inc.
Raising the Roof: Real life capital campaigns Arts organizations at various stages of their capital campaigns discuss the challenges and successes of engaging audiences and donors in this massive fundraising effort. Panelists will also address how they continue to engage their donor base after the building is complete. Visits to: Hyde Park Arts Center and Little Black Pearl Art and Design Center. Additional panelists from Muntu Dance Theatre, ETA Creative Arts Foundation and the Madison County Arts Council.
Get It Together: Models for long-term collaborations Unique models for collaboration and resource sharing, including incubator programs, space-sharing, and other models. This session will discuss approaches to developing long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships. Visits to: Athenaeum and Theatre Building Chicago. Additional panelists from Hoogland Center for the Arts in Springfield and the Champaign County Alliance.
Rooted: Connecting to (and growing in) your community Each of these arts organizations has found strength and success by creating unique collaborations and programs with their communities. A discussion about the intersection between art and community service and the opportunities for audience development through community-specific programming. Visits to: Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum and Chernin Center for the Arts. Additional panelists from Albany Park Theater Project, the Chinese-American Museum of Chicago and the Children's Museum in Oak Lawn.
Access to Art: Innovations in arts education Innovative approaches to providing arts access through educational opportunities. The session will examine several approaches to arts education; presenters will address how and where programs are provided, who benefits and how they might serve as models for other communities.
