Cultural Audience

In 2007, Arts Alliance Illinois participated in Arts & Economic Prosperity III.

That report revealed nonprofit cultural organizations in Chicago are a $1 billion industry, whose economic impact includes more than $650 million in spending by local organizations and more than $430 million in event-related spending by their audiences -- far above the median of other regions in the study.

This $1 billion industry also generates:

  • More than 30,000 full-time equivalent jobs
  • More than $620 million in household income to local residents
  • Close to $22 million in local government revenue
  • $20 million in state revenue
