Joan Shigekawa, Acting Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, has announced that 37 new grant awards, totaling $1.82 million, will be delivered to arts organizations across Illinois.

The Chicago City Council unanimously approved an ordinance which will restructure the way Chicago nonprofits are charged by the city for their water usage. The ordinance amends legislation originally passed in 2011 which would have phased out fee exemptions provided to most nonprofit organizations.

April 8 & 9, 2013 marked the 26th annual Arts Advocacy Day, a one-of-a-kind opportunity for advocates to speak out for the arts and arts education and be heard by Congress.

Arts Alliance Illinois traveled to Springfield to participate in Museum Advocacy Day with the Illinois Association of Museums and the Illinois State Museum.

President Barack Obama's budget proposal for fiscal year 2014 includes a funding request of $154.5 million for the National Endowment for the Arts, a slight increase of 0.14 percent or roughly $200,000 from his fiscal year 2013 request.
